The Best Way To Start FPV In 2024
If you're starting FPV in 2024 then there are 5 things that you can do to fast-track your skills!
1. Hobbyist or Professional?
Hobbyist Route: If you're flying for fun, an analog system offers simplicity and cost-effectiveness. It's perfect for casual flying and getting the feel of FPV without a hefty investment.
Paid Professional: For those aiming for professional heights, a digital system provides superior image quality and advanced features. It's an investment in your future as a paid pilot.
2. Building vs. Buying
DIY Builds: Building your own drone enriches your understanding and prepares you for inevitable repairs. It can be more cost-effective and immensely satisfying.
Prebuilt Drones: If you prefer a ready-to-fly experience, prebuilt drones offer convenience and reliability, perfect for beginners or those short on build time.
I prefer to build the drone, it will teach you how everything works and it will make it 10x easier when it breaks, and trust me it will.
3. Choosing Your Controller
Personal Preference: Controllers vary greatly. I recommend ELRS or Crossfire for its long-range capabilities and reliability. However, explore other brands to find what suits your flying style.
Compatibility: Ensure your controller matches your system (analog or digital) and drone specifications.
4. Simulator vs. Real-World Experience
Simulator Training: Simulators are risk-free environments to practice maneuvers. They're great for building basic skills before real-world flights.
Real-World Flying: Nothing beats the thrill and learning experience of actual flying. Start with simple maneuvers in safe, open spaces.
5. The Fastest Route to Mastery
Daily Flying: Even a single battery's worth of flight each day accelerates your learning curve.
Embracing Crashes: Initial crashes are part of the journey. Each one teaches resilience and improves your skills.
This is what I wish someone told me when I first started, and if you follow this then you will be amazed by how fast you will improve!
Keep Flying.
